Hi all,

When the engine is cold, the battery sign on dashboard comes on as it should with ignition is at ‘on’ position.

But when the engine is warm after driving more than 4-5 miles, when I turn it off, go do some errands, come and start the engine, the battery light is nowhere to be found ‘on’ position.

About 1000 miles ago “alternator workshop” light came on for 2-3 seconds and went off. Hasn’t come on since.

The alternator test came ok.

Today the battery died on me. After persuasion, the engine started.

Went to buy a new battery. Still no battery sign at ‘on’ position after the engine is warm.

What’s it?

First, you should fully charge the battery.
Probably a bad alternator, but there are other possibilities.

Does the battery light come on while driving when engine is hot ?
With engine running, what is to voltage across the battery terminals ? and what is the voltage between the large alt terminal and the alt body ?
With ignition on (not running) at the "L" terminal (small wire) with terminal connected ?
