Hi everybody!

Well, I must say I have been eyeing Passats since high school. I never thought I'd get to own one, this is when I didn't think I could ever own a car..lol. So my 26th birthday was coming up and I decided to get a new car. I was planning on getting a Mitsubishi Evo, but at the last minute, literally, I decided to go with my first love, the Passat! My boyfriend tried to steer me away, his excuse was not knowing much about German engines. He is a DSMer- Eagel Talon owner.

But anyways, this is my first Brand New Car, I got a '04 GLS 4-Motion Passat. Black exterior, Dark Grey/Black interior, 5-speed, and everything else is stock. I am looking into getting new wheels, first and foremost. I got a pretty good deal on my car, we got lucky and ran into an old friend of my boyfriends that became our dealer! Now that I have the car, and my boyfriend has been reading up on it, he seems to like it more. I am certainly not down with the Engine Talk...lol... but I am trying to learn. This is how we found you guys (this site). So here I am! Hope to talk to you all soon.

Thanks. It's been a little over a week since I got the car, I still can't believe I got it...lol.

I do have a question though. I don't know how many of you got leatherette. How do I clean that? The book doesn't say, it just says to contact my dealership. I am not about to go pay an arm and leg for a small bottle of something I can probably get cheaper elsewhere.

I want to change the wheels, not sure what to get and so forth. My boyfriend has some ideas, where is a good place or website to look at?

Welcome Nikki! I think you are the second girl in oregon that I am aware of. Nice to see more girly's.

The leather is true leather except for the backs of the seats. I use leather cleaner on the true leather and then I use a vinyl cleaner on the backs. I have had my passat for 5 years and my baby's leather looks pretty darn good.

Regarding rims.....are you the type to want to have a car look good or are you about performance? I have 19's on my car and I have driven many-a-times in Portland with no worries. But, I have not had my OEM 15's since the first day I picked up my baby from the dealer. Check out the Wheel forums section here. Take care.

About the wheels, hmm. Well I don't go racing or anything, but I do love to drive fast up and down I-5 and 217. I'll admit, I am all about aesthetics, I want my car to look real good. I am still breaking her in, so I am not sure of her power yet... heck she still doesn't have her plates!

i have 19" on my car too and i haven't had any problems. i have axis supermesh and toyo tires, and i love them to death. i did have 17" on my jetta and they weren't as cool because they were too small! once you go big you want to go bigger!

Summer has come and it is once again a great time for a Get Together here in the Pacific Northwest.


This is for our 2nd Annual Pacific Northwest Get Together, which will be held in Ocean Shores Washington on the week-end of the 23rd and 24th of July. Last year’s event brought 13 B5 and B5.5 together from Washington, Oregon and British Colombia and was a good success. We are planning for a bigger and better event this year.

It will be a two days event but everyone is welcome to come for both days or 1 day if that’s all the time you have. All details have not been worked out just yet but as it stands right now, the 23rd will be the drive down (or up, depends where you are coming from) and we would all meet at a designated location. We would find our accommodations and do some activities that evening. On the following day the 24th July, we would do a drive and BBQ and find our way home after that.
