Alright, you experts have helped me figure out that it's probably my water pump that's keeping me from staying warm in the Colorado winters. Let's see what you have to say about the car's radio.

One day last year I was driving home and tuned to AM to get a traffic report. When I went back to FM the radio shut off. I put in a CD and listened to it the rest of the way home. The next day FM worked fine.

Fast forward a couple months and I repeated almost exactly what I said above only the FM never worked again. I can listen to AM radio but the FM button shuts the radio off.

It comes up with SAFE then goes to AM radio. I don't have factory codes so I haven't ever played around with removing it or anything.

Any guesses?

can we assume this is a factory radio? have you ever removed/changed the battery?

When you push the FM button, the radio gets pushed a bit too and somehow the wiring back there is getting pushed too and causing the stereo to turn off. That's my theory.

Yes, factory radio.

Yes, I've replaced the battery but the radio worked fine.

I'll try to jimmy the radio forward a bit and see if that helps!
