I HATE 1-800 FLOWERS.COM FOR NOT DELIVERING MY ORDER.
I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!

So here's the story:
February 9th I order flowers to be delivered on Valentines day. As I am checking out, it says they cannot guarantee delivery on Valentines day unless you pay an extra $15 surcharge. I quickly checked to make sure I wasn't on 1-900Flowers.com and I figured, the whole intention is pretty null if it's not delivered on that day. So I order my flowers and get the confirmation email and all is well...or so I think. Then Valentines day rolls around. Me not wanting to say anything, I choose not to call, I don't send an email or anything insinuating a Happy Valentines Day because the flowers and card are being sent right? WRONG.

So that evening I call and find out nothing arrived. No word from the company. No word from the Florist. So I call their confirmation hotline and OF COURSE their automated system keeps hanging up on me. So I go to bed pretty pissed.

So Wednesday comes around and after my 4th time of getting hung up on by their automated system, and 18 minutes on hold, I finally get through to a living, breathing person a little after 10 in the morning. By then my mind was in the clouds trying to get my work done and still be pissed at the same time, a difficult multi-task indeed (It's hard for me to stay angry as I am not tempered easily unless you mess with my family or friends.) So the representative puts in a call to the florist who was supposed to deliver the flowers and she comes back with the reason of why they weren't delivered.....Get this...."They got backed up".

BACKED UP??? No shit, everybody gets backed up at work sometimes but they shouldn't take the order if they can't fill it and isn't it their job to make sure that if they can't fill the orders that they notify the purchaser or company so they can make other arrangements? Especially on Valentines Day??

So finally my bloodpressure drops a little bit as I am presented with the offer of a lifetime...I felt like I just won the MegaMillions Lotto. We're going to offer you 20% off your order and your flowers will be delivered today (the day after Valentines) the lady says. Whooptie F'n Dooooo. I was so excited I was dancing around in circles singing Hallalujah (sorry no backflips this time). Considering I payed $60 for the flowers, I am being offered a WHOOPING $12 discount for delivery the day after Valentines Day when I spent an extra $15 to have them GUARANTEED delivered on Valentines Day, NOW SOMEBODY'S TALKING.

Finally, after having her go back in forth to her boss and probably after her taking numerous shots of tequila, because I'm sure those representatives were going through HELL the entire day, she came back with an offer of 50% off today's delivery and an apology note to be sent along with the flowers delivered. I didn't have a choice, It was don't send anything at all, or send them a day late and hope the circumstances are understood and an acknowledgement that the thought was there. Since I couldn't deliver the flowers myself in person and I was tired of making a bad situation worse, I reluctantly accepted the offer.

Fast forward to tonight. FF>>
I just got a call at approximately 7:20 PM....and guess what???? STILL NO FLOWERS!!!!

1-800FLOWERS.COM YOU ARE ON MY SHITLIST!

SORRY FOR MY RANT.....

Next offer. You pay nothing (stop payment on your check or credit card if not too late- I hope you didn't pay cash). They send a handwritten apology to the person you intended to send flowers to. They can send the flowers too, or else just shove them up their ass.

Next.......Win the lottery and take out full page ads in every major newspaper and with every major internet provider in the country, trashing 1-800flowers.com just before Valentines Day and Mothers Day for the next 5 years.(If only revenge fantasies were as effective as they are fun to concoct)

That's why I use proflowers.com.

Click the microphone in the upper right hand corner of the screen and type in the last name of your favorite conservative talk radio personality for a special discount. Two dozen roses and a free glass vase for just $29.99 -- a $59.99 value!

Yeah, Proflowers is the way to go. I actually got a hold of the florists who delivered the first set of flowers I ordered from proflowers and complimented them on the superb arrangement they delivered to my "friend." I talked to the owner and he gave me an even better deal on a second set I ordered from him directly and he delivered them himself. Said that most of the time, you can get a better deal if you know what you want by calling the florist directly. Only thing is you don't know how good a florist is until you order from them.

I've had the same experience with both 1-800 and Pro. Sorta in their defense; it's not them filling the orders. They're middle men with the catchy .com addresses making a buck off of placing the orders with florists who pay a fee for the business they bring in.

I've learned that the local Gucci Safeway simply cannot be beat. Their flowers are of such a higher quality, I've quit going out of my way to specialty florists because their flowers simply don't last as long. The Safeway buds are cheaper too. Not one to miss the boat, roses are naturally jacked on V-Day, but they're still uncommonly fresh and I expect them to last for several weeks... just as the flowers from the same store before them.

Find and try some florists and grocery flower counters. You may be shocked at what you find, but it's worth it to have a quality shop in your quiver, cupid. ;)

DME,

That sucks!! I would be pissed as well. As has been said already, tell them you want to pay $0.00 for the flowers and you want them delievered TODAY with a written apology for their mistake.

I use Proflowers all the time and they have been great. I recently sent my wife 2 dozen Tulips delivered to her school and they were gorgeous. Give them a shot next time.

Plenty of reasons here not to send flowers. Chocolate is the way to go. Haystacks and dark chocolate almond bark.

You're gonna laugh, but we've bought roses at Sam's Club! My wife set up a retirement party for her mom and got about 8 dozen roses for the table centerpieces. They were fresh and were long lasting.

I called them and they agreed to issue me a credit certificate for the remaining $30 for a future order since for a second day they were not delivered.

As upset as I am, it's hard to blame them entirely since they do contract out to individual florists. However, they refuse to give out the name of the contracted florist and since I ordered through them, and they set expectations of guaranteed delivery, they have to take responsibility.

Yeah, why use the internet if ya dont have to? Just call your local florist.

This time I used flowers.com, ordered them on the 4th of feb, sent 2 dozen roses to my wife on the 13th, and used a 20% coupon code that I found by googling "flowers.com coupon code"

Full refund would be the only acceptable outcome for me. Even if the flowers eventually got there, by paying for the Valentine delivery, it was clear you were buying a unique service. Offereing a $30 discount off a future order is just sticking the hose in you again. You have to spend more money to get your credit/refund?

Look at it this way. If you paid somebody for a birthday cake and it wasn't ready for the party and they gave it to you 2-3 days later, what would you say? If you paid somebody to cater an event and they showed up 2-3 days later with the food, chairs and tables, what would you say? Would it matter in either case, if the person you paid subcontracted the work out and it still didn't get done?

Kick some tail! That's mod money they took out of your pocket.
