Motor mount?

Hmm... according to my mechanic, my right lower motor mount bracked is "Cracked"

I ordered a replacement, but in the mean time, can I drive the car?

What would happen if the mount failed?

if it is cracked,it has already failed. but driveing it could make it worse and allow a large amount of engine shift

By potential problems, I mean in terms of safety. My mechanic told me that the engine was going to drop out of the car and the wheel was going to fall off :nervous:.

I jacked the car up and took a picture of the mount. It's not actually the mount, but the bracket that has failed.

It's not cracked all the way through

But there is signifigant damage

Yea, I have to get it replaced, but the part doesn't come in until next Wednesday. I am trying to find out if I have a car or not in the mean time.

i wouldn't risk it man!

what caused it anyway? did you bottom out or something?

Yeah, I think you could drive it gingerly until the new mount came in, but personally I wouldn't risk it. My only other coment is that I believe autotech has after market mounts that are stronger - I'd take a look over the weekend...

Your sway bar mount is broken and your engine mount is fine if that breaks your handling will suck. The engine will not fall out nor will the wheels fall off, But take it light or park it if you can better safe than sorry! Parts 4B0 199 351 B

The mechanic I talked to said that the part I needed was a "Right engine mount bracket" so that is what I ordered at the dealership. Does anyone have a link to the autotech mount?

www.autotech.com Catalog.....you'll see the R/H and Snub. I think the HD R/H is more for Off Road use...I'd call them. I do use their Snub, love it......

My mount isn't cracked, the engine mount BRACKET is cracked. VW tells me it's a 40 dollar part, so I ordered it, but I am skeptical. I printed out some pictures and I am bringing them to VW within the hour.
