Hi all,
I replaced the motor mounts. Before that I removed the transmission mounts bolts, and exhaust to body bolt as well.

Put everything back together no problem.

now I have to force the gear selector to D (it stays there & triptronic works fine) but won’t move to 4 3 2. It feels as if it is blocked.

No codes and transmission shifts fine.

I have a suspicion that your shifter cable was knocked or pulled out of place where it mounts on the trans. You might want to look into that, but it might be tough to get up there if I recall.

It's not too hard to check on a 1.8T.
Did you support the engine and trans while the mounts were removed?

Yes.
I jacked up the motor by the oil pan, pivoting the transmission mounts. (Loosened the transmission Mount bolts)

It probably needs to be adjusted now as I expect the tension on it was too much and it stretched or pulled the cable a bit. I would start with loosening the cable stay while in P to allow it to reach it's natural position. See how much it moves and then see if it will start in P and go into gear properly. I've never done it apart from putting it back in after a trans pull, but it should work that way.
