I thought I would post my adventure replacing the rear speaker(s)? in my Passat for the help of anyone trying a similar repair.

Remove door panels as described in Bentley, You will break clips, accept this and go with the (super glue) flow. They are all easily repairable.

Diagnosis: Right rear woofer definitely defective. Tested by isolating using the iPod/clip lead test as shown used on tweeter. Manual movement of speaker cone causing shorts. Possibly voice coil bad. Test with left woofer shows it to be fine.

Currently working on drilling rivets out when it got too dark to continue.

Any advice on removing rivets would be appreciated since they are simply spinning on my bit.

Press the drill a little and change the angle a little and they will come out.

I used battery powered one so it was not so fast and powerful and ran into that problem only once.
