The new Interceptor Crown Vic is supposed to have independent suspension at all four corners, four valves per cylinder, and yes, hopefully 300+hp. The current 'Vic is governed to help reliability issues. The biggest weak link in the car remains the E4OD transmission. Slower than the old Caprice, but still outhandles it by far.
The BMW motorcycle is poorly suited to high speed pursuits. Because of the added weight, the bike has been geared down to improve acceleration, producing a top speed of just 115mph. Sure gets there fast, though.
The pursuit Camaros, on the other hand, are pretty wicked. 6-point roll cage, SS engine, six speed, with the Z28 handling package in an otherwise bare bones car. Good for 165+++mph. Also usually driven by someone with a few stripes on his shoulder. You're not getting away from this fella.
But really, anything with lights and a siren works fine as a pursuit vehicle. Most people dumb enough to flee are usually ill equipped for doing a good job of it, and all too often attempt to do so long after their license plate has been called in. I mean, it doesn't take much to catch a crack addict in an Escort maxed out at 80mph down the 110. I think current pursuit methodology is to just follow them until they run out of gas.
