Mister T's midnight manifold madness

So I finally got my replacement 034 exhaust manifold and finally finished at 2:00 this morning. Was it worth it? Hell yes!!! I can't believe the difference it made. When I started the car and let it warm up I thought my EGT gauge was busted because the needle wouldn't move. Turns out the EGT's were just that low (under 800F at idle). So far it looks like the new manifold has dropped my EGT's about 200-300 F.

The biggest difference is in the timing advance though. At 19-20 PSI I'm seeing zero timing pull. The overall timing just flatlines at 20 BTDC under load. Also, the powerband is way smoother. Once I get that 5 speed conversion done this thing is going to be a beast. I'll try and post some accell vids in the next day or so.

To which manifold did you upgrade? (I forget which turbo you're currently running)

The T3...

Or the High Flow Stock Fitment...

Awesome!!! Post up when you get a chance. By the way, does anyone know a fix to the instant email notifications here? I'd like to keep up with all the cool stuff going on, but each time I go to my profile and make sure that all my info is correct (and asking for instant notification), I am not getting updates.
I've been going back and forth whether or not to get this when I order my 034 kit, I think you just convinced me, thanks for the review. Did you have any issues with installation?

Email notifications haven't worked for some time now. It's not your system or your setup, it's the Forum software. Mods are aware of the situation.

What I do is check my User CP for Subscribed Threads updated since my last visit.
So I finally got my replacement 034 exhaust manifold...
Congrats. Nice volumetric efficiency mod.

Now that you have compared the OEM mani to the 034 mani, where is the most obvious difference?

I have a spare/used AEB mani. I was questioning whether some metal work to the OEM would get it closer to a 034 mani. Realize that they will never be the same, but would like to see if I can grind/shape the OEM to get better flow.

Enjoy your mod. Nice EGT drop, real nice.
Run us some logs! Block '034!
No EGT sensors on my car, however I did drill an EGT bung in the manifold. So when I get a threaded type probe I can use the second input on my EGT gauge to see the pre to post turbine temperature differences. I'll be sure to post what I find.

The biggest butt dyno difference is that the torque curve comes on smoother and lasts longer. This is probably related in part a) to the better exhaust gas flow and b) the additional timing that the engine can run.

As for the OEM mani, you can get a little more out of it by port matching it. Rusty did it and found that it made a difference. I think he has a writeup on the procedure.

Steve: I have the KKK flanged manifold

Aran: The install can be a PITA as the space for the nuts is smaller. You just need to be patient when installing it. Also, what kind of setup are you running? If it's a K03 or K04 I don't know that I would really bother to be honest. I had my first 034 manifold installed with a K04-015 and I didn't notice a huge difference. However it's not a bad idea to install it if you plan on going with a larger turbo down the road.

I'm going with the 034 kit, with the gtrs, 415's and unitronic software, and I think this will give me what I'm looking for.
The larger manifold is a must if you're going to be running a GT series. The only reason I got away with my stock manifold for as long as I did was the water/meth injection (when it worked :banghead:)
Oh, and NSX go bye bye...
