MAFS replacement before 70k?

Frustrations strikes. I find out that my MAFS needs to be replaced and since my car fits in the replacement era I was told I could get it replaced. When they asked me how many miles again were on the car I told them "76K". The past 6 weeks I have put over 6000 miles on the car which put my miles past the "70K mark". The check engine light has been on longer then that. If I had known that it was only covered up until 70,000 then I would have taken the car in. I did not know it was an item that would not be covered if you had over 70,000 miles on the car. Anyone hear this as-well? tia

Oh shit Becca. That can't be that lame. Did you EVER have the car into the Dealer for ANYTHING that could have been related to the MAFS? If so, it's documented, and they should honor it.

They should do it for the goodwill. Tell them you'll curse them to hell on CB5 if they don't fix it. Tell them we'll sic Sharky on them!

Good luck.

Kenny, they documented that the "Check Engine" light was on during the previous visit. The light ended up going away after I had replaced the coolant temp sensor and cycled through about 8 or so start-ups. But the light re-appeared about 500 miles after. When I drove to San Diego the car drove fine, and the gas consumption seemed to be correct. I am just a little bummed as they see and know how I take care of the car. Even they will state that the car looks "brand new". I am wondering if I should contact VWoA and tell them what happened? If not then sending sharky their way is a perfect solution. :) tia
i could see them bending on a few hundred miles, but 6000? that's a full service interval past the warranty. i'd seriously doubt that they would cover.

and if you have to pay for it, try the 2.0 MAF. supposedly it works.
