I am looking for the part number for the luggage compartment carpet hook (see the arrow in the picture below).

Alternatively, can someone take a picture of the actual part, I may try to DIY it (if I can't get the part number). Specifically, I want to know if the tab is curved at the tip that seems to attach between the weather stripping and the trunk lid rest. Or if there is anything special about the hook.
Also, how does the hook get stored in the trunk? Is it left on top of the carpet, or hidden under the carpet.

I can post pictures of my DIY if I end up going that route.

I am thinking of maybe getting a metal piece the size of a credit card and attach some nylon strip or rope to it, which in turn would connect to the carpet. And finally covering the metal in duct tape to avoid metal from scratching anything.

I'm pretty sure the illustration is referring to THIS, as described above. Part number 3B5 863 468 A.

That is exactly what I am referring to. And I def don't have anything like that in my trunk. In fact, there is just a hole in the carpet, where this would go.

Going to try to call the dealership tomorrow morning with the part number to see if they have it in stock. Otherwise, might just get it from the scrapyard.

DIY Dual Purpose Trunk Carpet Hook and Hanger

I couldn't wait to call the dealership the following day and came up with a DIY in about 5 minutes. The beauty of this DIY (once completed) will be that the hanger when not in use to lift the carpet, will act as a grocery bag hook for the trunk.

I had picked up a pack of 3 hangers from the dollar store last year, and still had two left over without use.

Materials use above. In addition, since my hot glue gun stopped working, I ended up using some painter string I had lying around.

Hook attachement for the carpet completed. The hardest part was trying to secure the nylon strap to the cut pencil with a string. Those of you into bondage would not have much trouble with this part! But it worked, so don't complain that it doesn't look nice!

Hook and Hanger working, as intended!!! The hanger can be easily detached within seconds from the hook. The hook will be detached and hung from the top of the trunk by a similar method to become a grocery bag holder. Dual purpose! Will update this thread with those pictures when I complete that portion.

To match the car look, I primed and painted the hanger last night in black from the left over primer and paint from a diy project last year on my bike.

If you do decide to get one from the scrapyard or dealership be careful removing and inserting the pointed end through the trunk floor as it is very easy to break.

Thanks for the headsup. I doubt I will be getting that part any longer. If it stays at the bottom, chances are I will put something heavy on it and break it. I like my new setup anyways.

Actually, it lies flush with the carpet. I can't imagine how you'd manage to break it. Still, your improvised one probably works much better than the original, which tends to slip off the lip of the trunk opening.

Yeah there is def no room for slippage. I just got the car a couple weeks ago and have been replacing small things around the car like lights, some plastic trim etc.

Will be doing a few smaller projects until summer hits, when i am planning on doing bigger jobs like the dreaded timing belt etc.

Dual Purpose: Grocery Bag hanger

Here is the grocery bag setup that I was testing. Will finalize it by tightening the nylon strap a little more.
I like it enough to install a second one on the right side as well.

This should be pretty straight forward to follow, but if anyone has any specific questions please let me know.
