I was trying to change put my brake pads on my 2006 VW Passat Value Edition 6MT. From what I know so far, the front pads are very straight forward and like many other cars. I tried to undo the lug nuts on my wheels and have problems trying to unlock them. I tried using the tools in the trunk and had no sucess getting them loose on all 4 wheels

What I want to know is anyone having a problem trying to unlock the wheel lug nuts? Maybe who ever installed the tires tighten them too much? I'd like inputs of what you think.

Above all, Happy Thanksgiving!

What specifically is your problem? Are the tools in your trunk not fitting onto the lug bolts? Is there a locking-lug and you don't have the key? Are your lugs seized and won't turn even if you put a lot of torque on them?

The tools in the trunk are only good for emergency road-side use like when you have a flat tire. For any serious work you're better off using real tools. Use a real jack, not the one from the trunk. Use jack stands. Remove the lug bolts with the correct size 6-point socket on a breaker bar. Matter of fact, I keep a breaker bar with the correct size deep-well socket in both my vehicles.

My problem is trying to unlock the wheel lug nuts. I have the locking lug nut tool for the car. I had trouble unlocking the lug nuts for the wheels. Just a lot of trouble trying to untighten the lug nuts

My brother told me about the breaker bar but im not in the right place to get a tool like that xP but thank you for the input! and also I thought they had an electronic process to remove the lug nuts for the wheels but that would be obsurd most definitly

That jack supplied as part of the OEM tool kit is a widow maker. Don't ever use it... I carry a bottle jack just in case.

Aside: one time used in seven years -- stupid protruding central reservation kerb that local council denied responsibility for, but then months later modified. Cost of getting replacement tyre £130. Solicitors' non-recoverable costs in getting money back from local council about £250

Thank you guys! I found out that there was a light build up of corrosion and rust on the lug bolts and lubed it with anti sieze. It was a pain to my friend to get them undone. Leverage was a big help!
