I was wondering of there were any high mileage tip chip owners on the board. Sometime down the line I'm considering purchasing a tip chip and was wondering how/if it will effect the tranny when some serious mileage is put on the car.

My '01 B5 has over 111k on it and I was wondering if the addition of the tip chip will cause any ill effects on the tranny/torque converter.

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

The Tip chip by itself is not likely to immediately kill your transmission or really affect reliability. I will cause firmer shift which arguably cause less clutch pack wear.

If you drive a chipped transmission harder than a non-chipped, that could have more of an impact.

With 110,000 miles on the transmission already, your days are numbered. Trans lives are statistical and you are getting into an area where the probability of failure is more significant. "It's too bad she won't live, but then again who does?"
