I am replacing the valve cover gaskets and replacing the plugs this weekend.

Thanks in advance and stay alert for the April Fool's Day pranks!! (this isn't one of them)

A faulty fuel pump relay is the most likely cause of most of your issues.
You could also check the wiring between fuse #29 and T5e/1 on the coil pack, and between T5e/2 and ground.

Your P1393 indicates a coil problem, since it's intermittent, I suspect a non-ignition wire problem to the coil. I expect #2 and #4 are on the same coil. Remove the coil and look at the wiring underneath for damage.

This would be ideal as I have TWO spare fuel pump relays acquired when I was troubleshooting why my new fuel pump would not pump!

Note: All 3 coils have the same fault P1393, P1394, P1395.

The relay I had on hand was '167', not the '372'...Should have checked when it arrived. I bought a used/new 372 off eBay but nothing changed.
Then bought a new ignition coil pack (Bremu from FCP Euro) and she lit up like a charm!!

SOLVED: The offbrand ignition coil I got thru Amazon had died...Well, the pack for cylinders 2 and 4 was showing 0 ohms...1,6 tested fine and 3,5 was on again off again....Anyway, FCP Euro delivered my new Bremu ignition coil (only $90) and I am off to the races.

I also put the multimeter on each of the spark plug wires and they checked out fine, too!...Now to fix that broken coil spring that has been waiting for warm weather...
