leaving B5 undriven - how long

I am curious how long can I leave my B5 undriven without causing any undesirable effects (I have no clue what kind, engine oil related may be)? I plan to go for a 3-week vacation but not taking my B5 (take the van instead) and wonder if I should have my friend drive (or warm) the car a few minutes each few days. Any good advise?

dont worry, 3 weeks is nothing, I didnt do any special preping to my car (besides locking in) when I left to europe for 2 months and when I got home it started right up without a problem.
Actually I have noticed undesirable effects if my B5 is undriven for more than a couple days. Most noticable effect is drewl running down my cheeks when I see other B5s on the road and the urge to stop at every VW dealer I see just to sit in one. :nervous:

Mine is engaged in a serious case of sibling rivalry with my Rabbit, so I have to spred out the miles or they both get cranky.

I think you can leave it sit for several weeks without worrying about anything, but more than that would need the battery unhooked and some drygas.
My Variant has been a second car over the last year and it's been sitting more than it's been being driven. I actually had it go several weeks at some points. Hopefully nothing major happened. It is now my primary vehicle and it's at the shop trying to get a noise figured out, so hopefully everything is fine once I actually get to drive it around. The worst thing that happened was my battery died a couple times when I went to start it up. That was after the "several weeks" of not being started.
I left my b5 undriven for a week. It idled badly for a minute and then settled down., but then the tank was on empty!
