I have a friend who wants to buy a Jetta. She is looking to spend around $10K and is looking at 2000 and 2001's.

Are there any major mechanical differences between the two years? I haven't been following any of the recall issues. Like does she need to check if they had coilpacks replaced or anything like that?

I'm also going to post this at the Vortex but thought I would bring it up here too.

Thanks for the help.

But if she wants a 1.8T and can find a 2002...they got a bump in HP to 180 mid-year...ours is one of the early 180hp Jettas...lots of fun...

The 2001 Wolfsburgs are actually a little bump in HP too. they got a modified K03.

A chipped AWW (late 2001) will absolutely spank a chipped AWD (early 2001)... if that's important.

If you're talking 2.slow, then there's really no difference at all.
