I have 2002 VW Passat and I have recently bought a VAG KKL usb scan tool I could not install the vag-com drivers 409.1 as they will not work with Windows 10. I finally got some working drivers for Windows 10. However vag-com and vcds light will not detect the interface it finds the com port. I have used Carport diagnostics free version that dose work but is limited as you can not erase the fault codes. Can any one tell of any other diagnostic software that is free that I can try that will allow me to erase the fault codes.

Let me get it clear... the vcds lite finds the com port, yes? You must have the cable plugged into car's obd port when you push test. Otherwise it says port ok, but interface not found!

Full VCDS won't work at all with these cables. Only VCDS lite. To be honest I still use the VCDS lite demo version 409.1 the chinese gave me on a CD when I bought the cable because it has proven best. The latest VCDS Lite version 1.2 seems to work okay too.

On VCDS lite, also make sure that the USB port you are plugged into on your computer matches up on the diagnostic software. You can check which comm port by opening device manager in the control panel and checking the comm port number. Then click the appropriate comm choice in the software.
