I have a 2000 Passat B5 1.8 Petrol, which currently has the MFA instrument cluster (i.e. the half height screen which displays distance travelled, time travelled, instant MPG, average MPG, average speed) which is backlit blue. Using VAGCOM I have determined it is part number:
3B0 920 922
Now I would like to upgrade this to a full FIS cluster, i.e. the full height screen that is capable of displaying directions and the radio station etc. I know people may say it is pointless, but for me it opens up future projects like retrofitting the VW navigation radio amongst other things and my car is my hobby.
I am confused about a few things after reading the guides and a lot of research, and my question on the cluster FAQ thread is getting no answers. So my questions are:
1. I want to know if anyone can provide me with compatible part numbers for a full FIS petrol cluster which is backlight blue?
2. With my current cluster, is there anyway to activate distance to empty? As it already displays the instant MPG so it should be able to calculate it.... (seems from research the only way is to reprogram a byte in the eeprom, is this true?)
