Bentley Continental to get companion sedan
A four-door companion to the Bentley Continental GT is undergoing development tests, in preparation for its official launch next year as a 2006 model.
Sources say the new Bentley sedan will be built on a stretched version of the Continental GT, which in turns shares its basic underpinnings with the Volkswagen Phaeton and the Audi A8. The big Bentley will get all-wheel drive and is expected to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The car could make its debut in September at the Paris Auto Show. Its first U.S. showing will likely be next January at the Detroit show.
