Implausible Signal

I just got my Ross-Tech VCDS package a few days ago and immediately did some testing of my 2002 B5.5. Readiness checked out, all Passed. Then the Auto Scan, everything OK except for one fault of Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left coded as 27-00 - Implausible Signal. I wondered what this was all about, the door seems to lock and unlock OK. So, using the remote, I locked and unlocked it many times and then one time it did not unlock. I reached inside and manually unlocked it and again the remote locked and unlocked it many times. By searching PW I found that the fault may be as simple as a bad contact in the connector. But before I pull things apart, I may just live with this until it gets worse.

Another fault fix possibility for a Rear Left (F222) code is (according to Ross-Tech): Door Lock Mechanics are stiff/partially seized. I looked at the Bentley diagram and saw that everything below the locking button is mechanical. I squirted some silicone oil on the button shaft to let it drain below. I'll clear the fault and do another scan in a few weeks. Maybe I'll be lucky.

But my question to the group is: what does Implausible Signal mean in Volkswagen-speak? It seems to be used a lot.

I get a driver's window implausible signal code every time I run my VCDS, but the window works fine, so I am taking the Alfred E. Newman ("What, Me Worry?") approach.

00912 - Window Regulator Switch; Front Left (E40)
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Looks like I was lucky. I did a scan after a week and no fault. During the week I did a lot of exercising of the door button. The door lock mechanics must have had some resistance to cause the fault.
It most likely is that one or more solder joints are cracking inside the door lock mechanism. If that's the case, it will eventually get worse, where your doors will either randomly lock and unlock, or not all of them will lock, but the alarm will engage and go off when you open one of the unlocked doors. There's a nice write up on how to fix that, but as long as it's working fine, like John_E suggests, don't worry about it.
