Alright, guys. I've gotten a lot of really good help from this site. You guys rock. I'm new to these cars. I have a 2001 Passat 4motion V6 station wagon. I replaced both front wheel bearings and something about how I put the ABS sensors back in caused them to be crushed by the tone rings on the CV axles. The tone rings are now loose on both CVs and the sensors are both destroyed. I could replace both parts easily enough but I'm worried why this happened and that it'll happen again. Any tips or tricks about not inserting the ABS sensors too far? Is that even what I did wrong? A little peace of mind that I won't spend $300 on parts and just do the same thing again out of sheer ignorance is all I'm really looking for. Thanks in advance!!

When I did the half shaft on my 99 I didn't pull the sensor out enough and bashed the crap out of it putting the axle in. I only needed to replace the sensor though.
