I don't know if I do or not. My coolant level is low, but no warning light yet, and I can't find any leaking coolant anywhere. Could my heater core have a slow leak? My heat only works at idle with the fan speed on the climatronic on the lowest fan setting and the heat turned all the way up to "HI". Is it possible to be burning coolant? I think I also am burning some oil, I was more than a quart low to where oil was barely touching the orange plastic dip stick just the other week after I already used a different quart a few thousand miles ago to top it off. I just hit the oil change mileage on my sticker which was 5000 miles. Should I get it changed now or since its synthetic I can wait a little longer?

If your coolant level is low, add coolant. Don't wait for an idiot light.

V6 engines are known to use oil. A few thousand miles ago has nothing to do with now. Add oil.

I am not aware of a recommended extended service cycle for the Passat even if using synthetic oil. However, some members to use a longer cycle. I change every 5K, it's your car and your decision on when to change the oil.

I was going to add some lol I wasn't going to wait for the light.

Oh I did add oil, It probably needs a little more but I added a quart of 0w-40. Or, I am probably just going to get it changed.

So I still can't figure out where it is leaking. I do however have a guess. I think there is a crack at a certain point because my coolant doesn't drop below this certain point. And I think the issues as to why I don't see it physically leaking is because it's burning instead of dripping down. Or it might be leaking from my Hester core. I think it's the tank itself because I get an occasional coolant like odor through my vents no matter if it's air Conditioning or heat. I heard get a new tank from the dealer because the ones online explode quite often, right?

Don't just throw parts at it, diagnose it and replace the part that needs to be replaced. O'Reillys will rent a coolant system pressurizer, although I'm not sure if they have the right size to fit a VW tank.

Anyways, pressurize the system to the appropriate PSI and a) see if it'll hold pressure. If it does, you don't have a leak, or b) locate where coolant is leaking.
