I need to delete the ABS and SRS systems, help?

I installed the drivetrain from a 2000 Passat into a 73 Porsche 914. I swapped the dash, steering column, engine, tranny...

I need to figure out a way to remove the ABS and air bag system from the instrument cluster so I don't have to listed to the alarms.

I do have a Vag-Com but Ross Tech says they cannot remove modules. Do you think a VW dealer can flash these out? From what I read in the factory service manual, If a new cluster is programmed in, the service tech needs to code for all the modules installed. Maybe they could flash without these modules?

Any ideas?

I don't know enough about the car's electronics to answer, but I'd like to see pics of the physical installation in the 914.

The build thread is here 914World.com - A Porsche 914 Community / Forum / Club

I can remove the LED's and buzzer but the multi function display says "STOP, Check Brakes, Service Manual". I would like to get rid of that...
Just put electrical tape over the display. Problem solved.

Seriously, I want the system to work. I know I can remove or cover parts but that's not the solution I want.
You could install a cluster from a 98-99 passat that doesnt have the screen to display stop brake fault
Considering what you are trying to do I would suggest you try to contact vwb5t or k0mpresd as both are very knowledgeable concerning wiring, looms and programming.

Now off to finish reading your build thread!

Good luck.

Looks like maybe if I go to address 19 with VagCom and input code 00000 I can delete the SRS system. I am currently coded as 00004, Air Bag...

See attached pics of auto scan and factory service manual...

I imagine that's possible. I think you could also code out ABS the same way in the instrument or engine control module.
Well, I have all CEL's eliminated except the ABS. Looks like the ECU (01), channel 125 is holding the code. Coding the Instruments to 00000 cleared the SRS CEL.

VW has login codes to turn on/off various functions in the ECU. I can find login codes to turn on the ABS but not OFF. I'm guessing this code is not published to the public. Has anyone ever seen a list of login codes? If I can figure out the correct login, it should be easy. But inputting random numbers is NOT an option.
IIRC you can fit a new ECM and get it programmed without ABS, but I don't think they can be reprogrammed.

I believe that part of the ECM is a "Write once ROM".

wont work, he is running a 2000 setup and if i remember right he kept the DBW so the cluster swap to the older one will cause more issues than just an ABS light.

its been awhile since i have gotten deep into a DBW programming but i recall there was a way to get into ECU to delete the ABS and prevent the code. give me a little bit i will see what i can dig up, but unless you have the proper cable and program to read/write the eeprom in the ECU you will have to farm this out to someone else once you figure out what needs to be done.

If it can be done in the ECU, I will farm it out to 034 Motorsport. They were supposed to flash all that crap out when they did the big turbo tune. Other stuff like: EVAP, SAI, EGR, wastegate control, rear O2... were all flashed out of the system. VagCom got the rest of the stuff flashed out. The ABS code is definitely in the ECU. The instruments only show a fuel gauge code right now. My fuel gauge adapter is not working correctly. The short term fix is to pick up a Chrysler sender (30-240 ohm) to work with the VW 0-250 ohm gauge. I have the original Passat sender but it will require major mods to fit into the Porsche tank.
I really, really want to do what you are doing to my 2000 passat. I really dislike ABS and Traction control and don't want them back, but those lights and the inability to check other things with that display might drive me to just fixing the module. Could u PM me if you find a solution? Much appreciated if possible.;)
