I had to put the oem head unit back into our 98 passat, and of course the dealership gave me the wrong code the first time around, so I tried it twice and it's locked. I don't believe it is the monsoon deck, just the single din cassette player
it reads 2 SAFE on the screen and won't allow me to put in another security code at this point.
How can I reset this to try again? will pulling the power on the deck and then plugging it back in be sufficient? any other tricks?

I checked it after a few hours, still showed the same thing. Does it have to be left on, or off, or what's the deal?

Can you just remove the negative terminal of your battery for a few minutes and put it back?
