How long is the security code on the head unit??

Hi can anyone tell me how long the security code is for a head unit out of a 98 aeb code 1.8t, i dont have a sticker or card with the owners manual but there is a line of numbers written on the back page, (could be a phone number though) as i am about to get the car chipped and i have noticed that the battery needs disconnecting to remove the ecu. Or if anyone knows if the code is hidden on a sticker in the car somewhere (i read in another topic that its hidden in the spare wheel well)?

If not can vw dealers get the code for me?

They usually put the code in the owners manual on a card.

No its not with the manual, its one of those things on the to do list of chasing up with previous owners, along with the imoboliser key code.

I can tell you that the code on my new HU was pretty short. Like 4 or 5 digits I believe.

Yeah i was expecting it to be about 4 digits or 6 at the max due to the head unit having numbers 1-6 for cd changer.
