I have seen many posts on the ICM issue but never any saying if it was safe to drive on one going out. I have a 2002 1.8t with close to 40k miles. I am taking it in for a 40k service soon.

Thanks!

I wouldn't drive it further than you have to. One cylinder at a minimum will be misfiring. If the check engine light starts flashing, you probably have two misfiring - thats half of your cylinders.

Why do you think you have ICM issues? 98-99 have icm’s connected to the air intake box but 00+ I think have intergraded icms into the ecu. So if you have a 2002 with ICM issues it’s probably a little more serious.
