let's see if this works.

hello,

I'm trying to help a friend purchasing all related parts needed to install a new clutch on his 1999 Variant.
I've got a few questions you guys might be able to answer:

Are part numbers the same around the World?
- He has a connection in Germany willing to send him the parts!

Do clutch systems vary a lot from country to country?
- my friend is in Brazil.

Would an Audi clutch fit his Passat, and would it be any stronger?
- he's changed his clutch very early on and now its gone again.

Do you think his buddy in Germany feels responsible for all VWs around the Globe?
-

His car is a 1999 1.8T Passat Variant, 5-speed with very low Kilometers/Miles.
The first clutch went before he chipped the car, the second after.
Yeah... he's into the "spirited driving" thing but not dragging or street racing. Other than the chip and air-filter the car is stock.

If you know the Number of the parts need for the job, could please post them here?

THANK YOU in advance!

cheers,

I just looked this up in my handy dandy parts catalog and the clutch assy. was not in it. Not sure why. Avery other part you can think of. Good luck.

renato - the clutch is the same no matter where you are. I believe the A4 clutches also work, but don't quote me. As long as he gets the right engine and right year, he is good to go. You can get a real performance clutch directly from Sachs, there is a thread going right now with the info on that. Perhaps he should consider that option.
