Sorry Bud

I purchased a chip from someone in the forum last week, after calling around to find you that is may not work in my car at all. If you lucky you have to take the car to the dealer and get the immobilizer coded to the new ECU. Your car will not start do not bother trying to get it to work. Heres the post I posted.

Here's the procedure:

You have Immo III. You have to go to the dealer because only they can get the secret code to reprogram the Immo III on the chipped ECU. If you're still under powertrain warranty or CPO, it's not going to be anymore since the dealer will want to know why you are swapping out your working ECU.
On second thought, maybe you could IM this guy. His profile says he can help you in getting the SKU code for your ECU's.

Good luck I have an 03 passat.

That little chip is your original OEM "chip". They desoldered that one first, then soldered in your new upgraded chip. It is a little harder than just "swapping" them, they need to be professionally soldered in.

what kind of chip is it?

It could be a problem with the soldering job. I had this happen with my GIAC chip and I came down with the EXACT same problems you are having.
