Hello,

I peeked through the oil filler cap and saw a brownish film all over the valve area. My V6 has just under 70,000 miles.

What is this film? Should I do Auto-Rx? Thanks in Advance.

If its milky looking sounds like a water leak....head gasket maybe. I don't know the V6's particulars enough. I do remember having a bad Head Gasket on a 428SCJ way back in '77! :D

Could just be some condensate. Pull up your dipstick and look for something similar. If you just see regular oil, it is a bit of water that is absorbed into the oil condensing on the cold filler cap. There is always a bit of water in your oil (0.1% or so), it's nothing to worry about unless it is in the oil pan. :)
