any one with gtrs set up on automatic passat
need some help please :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
thanks
well I have no idea if it's do-able, or if there is any downside... I wouldnt think it would be any downside, because it's obviously a power upgrade. The trans should be able to handle it.

based on what your car looks like, it would only compliment it!!!! NICE RIDE:wrench:

If i had a TIP i would go GTRS eliminator and not K04, the TIP will last longer and you will have a wicked top end. but i would never have a TIP, not sure why VW even made they should have all been manual, come on seriously who buys a TIP :poke:

x2

Less torquey at the low end, easier on the tranny. More power up top too
You're kidding me?! So it's better to just get a gtrs package for my tip when the k03 goes south, than to get the standard k04 package? Crap. There goes all my preconceived notions.

Both autoxtreme and 390 told me that it wouldn't be worth it on a Tip, as I asked a few months ago in prep for my stock K03 to crap out.

I'm assuming the OP is asking this question in conjunction with getting a level 10 tranny?

ok heres the quick and dirty on the K04 vs the gtrs

the K04 has an extreme torque spike in the low RPM's that put a real hurtin on the tranny, the GTRS will lessen the torque spike but you will gain more HP that a K04, the tranny can handle horsepower its the torque spike that kills the tranny.

look at this and you will see what i am talking about, this is a K04 PC-16 on a manual, I've been in the car and the torque spike is crazy

heres a full GT28RS dyno compare them and you will see what i'm talking about

you do loose a little bottom end with the gtrs but it gives a much more linear power curve that is easier to drive daily.

if you get a gtrs i would set the boost at about 15-18 and you should be fine, your looking at 250ish hp and about the same torque but the torque curve is much more fluid verses a quick spike.

stole the dyno's from scirocco78 and eurojuce thanks guys for posting them

I don't think anyone has done it on a tip passat and there isn't much info out there for it. I was searching the zine for this info but they didn't have much either, and even then quattro trans is stronger than fwd or so they say. Nothing is really data proven..

the quattro trans and the FWD trans are the same thing gear wise, clutch wise, and TC only difference is the tail shaft on the quattro.

Then if they can hold the same about of power then you can look at some examples from there... there are a handfull.

swcrow17,
elim kits are about $1500 from ctsturbo (turbo, gaskets, oil lines)
software is ranges from 600-1000 (unitronics, revo both have bt files)
injectors - $250
good dv - $150
exhaust and fmic if you don't have one... $700 for both if you wanna make it yourself
and of course not including labor

so about $2500-$3000 diy
