So I have a 06 Passat and my headlights are shot. I got another pair but there seems to be a difference and my bulbs and harness wont fit. Did VW change something at some point?

if so does anyone have pictures of the other type.

For filament bulbs there are two types of holder: Hella and Valeo. But both take the same bulb styled as H7

Unless the OP has aftermarket headlight assemblies or aftermarket HIDs then everything should be standard. Either HID or H7

They're the filament system. you bring up a good point I need to check to see if they're hella Or valeo.

So i checked. They are two diffrent types. Old ones are hela new ones are the other. So now i need to find new clips.

The clips for either Hella or Valeo are not available separately as a spare part. I presume you mean the holders with wire clips either side. So it'd have to be from a scrappy. Or change headlight assembly ... oke:
