Working on getting the head off of my 1.8L and got stuck at the three 17mm bolts atop the exhaust manifold. The inner one has less vertical room to get a socket on - all mine are too long. Is there a good tool for this bolt? Does anyone make a short socket with a swivel built in?

Thanks

Have to have a really short socket to get it or a really thin wrench that won’t slip. What i Always do is remove all the exhaust manifold bolts remove the intake and whats attached to the head and remove it that way leaving the exhaust manifold then take that 17mm bolt out after i remove the head

Thanks Emry, I was hoping I wouldn't have to 'experiment' ;)

Skullkz, does this not need to be removed to remove the head? I'd been following along directions on UTube...

4zfed, those sound great, I can see me needing those another time later on.

Thx for the replies, I'll move ahead on it this week 1

No once you unbolt the exhaust manifold and everything else you can lift the head off or just enough to get that bolt out
