ok so by bros battery in is 2000 1.8t wagon is not holding a charge we think its either a dead battery but the battery goes dead even he only starts it up in morning after charging it goes to work parks car for 5 or so hours and the car barely starts up after work. any help is appreciated

Check the water level. Passats do not come with a maintenance free battery. If your battery is like mine, it will have 6 cells. You need to check them all. Add distilled water only.

The battery could be at the end of its life. Most auto parts places will check it free from you.

he checked the fluid level and had to fill it but no go. thats a possibilty. if he needs to buy a new one where can he get one

ok heres the full story. my bro checked the fluid in the battery some cells were low they filled them up wit distilled water. so there is enough water in the battery. for some reason whe the car sits for like 5 hours or so like when he is at work the battery is barely able to start the car. he puts the battery on the charger every morning before he goes to work. the stealership wants 115 for the battery. but we dont think its the battery cause he could only start the car like 2 times in the day and by the afternoon the battery is dying.

Put a voltmeter on the battery when the car is running. If you see 14+V your alternator is fine and the issue is your battery.
