I have an 03 passat wagon that I have to cycle the key several times before it will fire. When it does fire up it take awhile to be able to revup. I've replaced the fuel filter and ordered for and temp sencer.

Check the N80 purge valve (I have no idea where it is on that engine). It may also be the cam position sensor. Can you get the car scanned for codes?

Good start. On the B5.5 1.8T the N80 sits on top of the airbox on the passenger side engine bay.

A good way to test is to pinch close the hose that it connects to.

Your best bet for help is to scan it and post any codes. Add in engine type, miles and any recent work done. The more pertinent info the better.
