It's a ford but nobody's perfect.. we'll see its a pretty slick car, and runs great

want any details?

I blame the Passat for my turbo craze.

I'm a ford auto tech, so I can live with it, but I'll keep my eye on the list

Oh, I forgot to include the specs..

1986 Mustang SVO
2.3 turbo/intercooled
rated at 200 HP/240 lb-ft stock
this car has a short-throw shifter
a slightly modified boost output (19 PSI over stock 14-15)
dual flowmaster exhaust
160 degree tstat
91k miles, brand new clutch,
The engine has all new gaskets/ polished intakes

And its dyno proven that this motor gains 9 HP with a cone filter

Yeah, but it'll be about a week or so, my GF just took the camera on a ski trip to the pocono Mnts ;) The motor doesn't look spectacular, though looks like a never-cleaned engine bay from ... 1986

Fix it up...make it fly.....make it look nice....and you have a hell of a car!!!

And that coming from a guy that doesnt like Domestics!

Congrats Citan, those SVOs have exclusivity written all over them.
One of my Mustang-enthusiast buddies said the SVOs have a control in the console to switch between regular and premium fuel!

Correct

Regular runs ~9 PSI, switching to premium ups it to between 14 and 16 PSI

this particular one pushes 19

I wonder how fast the passat would be if I pushed 19 PSI

Old school stangs....

I'd always rather buy an ugly old 5.0 Mustang (or turbo SVO for that matter) than a new, crappy V6

My friend bought an SVO around the same time. Don't recall how much but it was brand new and he still has it, although it's been on blocks for 10 years+! He actually wrecked it a little hitting a curb going way too fast for residential driving (40mph on a normal street corner). He smashed the front/passenger wheel and a slight ripple/crease was followed up along the passenger a-pillar, roof, back down to the driver side C-pillar... it was TWEAKED big time. He eventually got it "straight" again. At the time, it had about 3K miles. To the best of my knowledge, it looks like the day it was bought and only 12K on the odo last I heard. Could be less but not certain; he didn't drive it much after the accident. He felt pretty stupid for a long time and I don't think he ever told his dad.

During that time, it "felt" wicked-fast. Just too much power in immature hands. He's keeping it forever though.

I know all about the tweaks..

It's been dyno proven, on a stock SVO that a cone filter alone bumps up 9 HP, that's quite a gain! and that was on the 84's/85's version, not even the tweaked 85.5/86 There's also an aluminum driveshaft that appareantly shaves over 1 tenth off the 1/4
