I found a write up in the info base on removing the front passenger seat. I just want to confirm there won't be any issue with the airbags going off while driving the car? I'm not worried about the warning light, but I'm going to be driving without the front passenger seat for about a week and want to make sure I don't have any issues.

Car is a 2004 with manual seats

You'll have an airbag light.
If you're thinking "they might just go off for no damned reason while I'm driving", well... if that happens, it isn't because the seat isn't there.

Note that the light won't go back off by itself when you reconnect the seat. You'll need a VAG compatible scan tool.

You'll be fine Bill. Unless I'm mistaken, the entire airbag system becomes non-functional when that cluster light gets illuminated (regardless of how it happens).

The airbag control unit doesn't "know" whether there's a connector fault with the front pass. seat side airbag or whether the seat/airbag are missing, so the CU disables the entire system.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would be an issue but wanted to check.

Of course, had I bought a wagon I wouldn't need to remove the seat to begin with...

Piece of cake. Wiring harness was the hardest part
