I am rebuilding the front suspension on my 03 FWD Passat and want to replace the front bearings on both sides. I can't for the life of me figure out how to pull the front hubs to begin the process. When using a puller, where does the center screw implement on the puller impact. I have tried a number of different things and they all push out the CV axle. Any clues would be appreciated. Everything else is coming apart nicely. :)

If I don't get a reply by the AM I am going to pull the entire spindle and have a NAPA shop press out the old hub and bearings and press in the new hub and bearings.

Having the NAPA shop do this is not a bad idea. To replace the bearing, the inner race needs to come of the hub, not an easy task for the typical DIY'er

I agree it's a pain. Myself I cut a groove in them then use a sharp cold chisel to crack them. Takes some practice but pretty easy once you have done it a few times.
