Euro Switch - Hella ECode City Light Issue? (Solved)

So I had my Hella Halogen Ecode headlight assemblies installed on my Passat today. They are great but I puzzled by the behavior of the city lights.

On my 01 Jetta I get this function with Euro switch.

Switch Off - DRL (City Lights On)
Switch Pos. 1 - City Lights On (No low beam)
Switch Pos. 2 - Low Beam On - Plus City Lights

In my Passat I now get with Euro switch.

Switch Off - DRL (City Lights Off)
Switch Pos. 1 - DRL Plus City Lights On
Switch Pos. 2 - Low Beam On - Plus City Lights On

Is there any simple way to duplicate what I get on my Jetta with what I get in the Passat?

One additional piece of information. I get the type of function I want in the Passat only when the parking break is on or pulled.

Help???!!!

If you get the type of function with the parking brake on then you must want the DRL's off. In that case you would have to remove the panel underneath the steering wheel and remove relay 173.

Yes, I now understand how relay 173 can disable the DRL's.

What I would like is...

Pos Off - DRL
Pos 1 - City Lights Only (No DRL)
Pos 2 - Low Beams

I found this information from an old posting. Would removing pin #5 solve my issue?

Euroswitch Contact Closures
P1 (off) Xz connects to: B and TFL

P2 (middle) Xz connects to: 56D
30 connects to: 58, 58L, 58R

P3 (all on) Xz connects to: 56, 56*
30 connects to: 58, 58L, 58R, SRA

1st Pull: Xr connects to: NL

2nd Pull: Xr connects to: NL, NSL

Swicth connector pins connect to the following:
1 = Xz - switched with ignition
2 = Xr - power from Load Reduction Relay for Fog Light and Fog Light Indicator (receives power when switch is in P3)
3 = TFL - to Daytime Running Lights on later B5s when switch is in P1 (off)
4 = 56 - to Headlight Dimmer/Flasher Switch and if applicable, headlight washer
5 = 56D - to Daytime Running Lights when switch is in P2 (parking lights)
6 = B - to Daytime Running Lights on B5.5s when switch is in P1 (off) (N/C in B5s)
7 = 56* - to Headlights when switch is on P3 (headlights on)
8 = NL - to Fog Light
9 = NSL - N/C - for rear fogs
10 = 31 - ground for led's in switch
11 = SRA - N/C
12 = no connection inside switch
13 = 58L - N/C
14 = 58R - to parking lights/side markers/rear license plate/tail lights/dash
15 = 30 - constant battery +
16 = 58 - to Instrument Panel Light Dimmer Switch
17 = 58d - dimmed illumination in for lights in switchl

Go figure! Not sure anyone else has been frustrated with that or figured it out on their own. Perhaps I have contributed a bit in a small way to the community at large.

mikecockss thanks for being the person willing to take a small chance and see if it would work.

Not that this is some amazing discovery but perhaps it could be tagged somewhere or added to the ecode headlight mods somewhere?

Normally we just swap out the front fog light wire in the headlight housing wiring connector to the city light spot on it.

Try searching 'devil lights' for my post on how to do that.
