I second that statement! Now upgrade the projectors to the Hella Evo-X projectors. It is the updated projectors to the ones in that assembly. They are clear lenses and better reflection in the "dome"

Are they bi-xenon? I thought bi-xenon meant the lenses only have one bulb each, whereas these have 2, making them regular xenon.

The current bixenon projectors are not clear (the cutoff line is not sharp) and the reflector inside the projector is not as shiny as newer ones. Hella upgraded the projectors later (Bi-xenon: Hella EvoX-R - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source). They should be a direct fit and are bi xenon. Full disclosure, I have not upgraded yet but have them on order and will upgrade as soon as the weather permits.

haha, its surprisingly easy. I took out the projector before installing the headlight the first time to clean it out.

These projectors are the upgraded once for the euro bixenons. I have no idea if they would fit in the regular halogen assembly

So just so I am understanding correctly, you're talking about replacing the projector lens that's already in there with a better one? Or are you talking about retrofitting the non-xenon high beam lens with a projector lens?

And also, I want to just confirm terminology here because I am still confused -- the Euro W8 lights are technically xenon, not bi-xenon, because each lens has 2 bulbs (one projector low beam and one halogen high beam) per headlight. Whereas actual bi-xenon headlights have one bulb per headlight, which is both a low beam and high beam.

I am referring to replacing the lens and the reflector behind the lens (click the link above and you'll see the picture). The Euro W8s are bi-xenon as the cutoff on the projector disappears when engaging full beams. Think of it as xenon assisting the halogen high beam.

Do you need to completely disassemble the headlight to replace the projectors? What i mean is do i need to heat the part where the front glass of the headlight is glued with the other part of the headlight to be able to remove/replace the projectors?

Bi-xenon refers to the standard projector with an electric actuator that moves the cutoff out of the way, hence the xenon is now a high beam.

So you didn't heated the headlights with industrial heat gun or in the oven to remove the front glass? The reflector can be completely removed through the back of the headlight?

Also can somebody confirm that the Evox-R can be good replacement for Passat B5.5 headlights? Will it fit without any mayor modification?

Remember that the motor has to be taken out as well to make room for the projector to come out.

I have not tried to replace with Evox-R yet, and won't have the chance to until september. But I will let you know then if that isn't too late :lol:

You are changing the stock reflector with Evox-R?

I was just interested is it possible to remove the whole reflector like you have it on the picture WITHOUT removing the front glass (which can be done only by heating and melting the glue that holds the glass and the rest of the headlight together)?

Just to be clear, it was removed from the Bi-Xenon assembly, and the projector is the stock bi-xenon projector. In september I will attempt to replace it with the updated version which is the evox-r. My research so far seems to show that it is a direct fit. I have no idea if it fits in place of the stock halogen projectors.
