Hi everyone.

I have experienced the same kind of behaviour twice in the last 2 weeks:

Driving the car quite normally, even very normally with no high revs etc, the car suddenly when cornering (and stepping on gas again) stalls, gives EPC error and shuts off. When I restart the engine, everything works ok.

My car is a 2000 DBW, 1.8T with tiptronic and APR chip. Please comment if you have experienced something similar. I can see the MAF sensor may be going bad, but the other 2 errors? LOAD? whaaat? There is no way there is ever enough torgue :)

Took the VAG tool today to see what is wrong and here it is:

I got this problem with my ABT chip while running on cruise control. Didn't show up in the car of the guy who bought it from me. I believe ABT chips are made by APR.

Same error codes as yours

Bad solder on the chip (or socket) and/or bad MAF are likely. Double check the wiring,be sure all of the connections are properly seated.

I guess the EPC error codes were designed by VW for that special thrill :p

Anyway, it has not happened anymore yet, but I guess it is the MAF going bad so I am quickly switching to a non-oiled APEXI cone airfilter to not damage the MAF more. Maybe if it keeps occuring I will change the MAF.
