Hi everyone,

This is a pic i got from another site, which from the dials also seems to be a B5.. you can see that the MPG/trip computer is present. Is that an optional thing?? i dont seem to have that, with my B5 the middle is just blank.

any ideas?

i'm not positive, but i'm pretty sure that came on cars 2000 and newer. My car is a 99 1/2 and mine has the smaller one with the blue backlight led's. what year is your car abe??

hope i can help

nick
On early b5's 97-2000 the mpg are displayed where the clock is....

you can change fromt the time to the mpg by pushing the button on the tip of the winshied wiper control stalk to the right of the steering wheel.

at least thats how my old 99 was, (i think)

hope i helped
if you dont hav eit in the middle, than it is located where the clock is on this pic. You may go thro all different info using you wipers handle ;)

It's actually not blank. It's where all the little warning lights are.

Still, I wish I had my trip computer in the center instead of where the digital clock is. I hate not being able to display the temperature and the time simultaneously.
re:

mine is 1999

so i guess its only available in the little time lcd

ah well... I probably will live with that

OR... i may mod the car and get the newer trip display in the middle :D

It is usualy place for Audi MFD, mine 99 GLX have it on clock screen
Mine doesnt have it either... It looks cool but anyways, i am gonna mount my boost gauge on the steering wheel which would cover up if the thermometer and the fuel consumption info were there... :)
Gotta love La. Going 20mph on the freeway and it doesnt seem out of the orndinary
is this how the latest models look like??? cool large middle display!

I could be wrong, but that appears to be a European (or at least non-NA) dash. Speedo is in km/hr.

the large display looks cool
They (VAG) started to put the newer displays in the new 2000 clusters, and then went to the full display in 2001.5 iirc.

Both my MY2K Audis have the larger display like this. It is also two-color.

See the gap between the words "Brake When" and "Selecting"? That is the seperation between two different displays, the top part of which will turn yellow and has animated graphics, like for fuel or washer fluid levels, etc.

the '00s have the display there too (maybe not as large though). it'll come on when you're low on gas, when the temp is below 40°F, wen the brake sensor is disconnected, and for various other reasons.

well, it usually takes me 75 minutes to drive less than 25 miles home from work everyday, so 20mph is fairly accurate...
