is there a way to dim your aftermarket cd player illumination with the factory dimmer switch like the factory radio? the alpine i have is fiery bright!!

The Alpine should have an 'illumination' lead, which you connect to the vehicle's lighting switch so that it goes to 12v when the lights are on.

You don't get a variable brightness (no way to do this AFAIK) but you get a high/low brightness level when the vehicle lights are off/on (respectively)

Alpine's do have an illumination lead, but it might not dim it enough. If your dimmer is hooked up, turned on and it's still too bright, try using the Blackout feature, if your particular HU has it. I use this on my wife's 9815 and it works great.

dern, i do have it on low brightness...i'll look for my model and scrape up a book for it.
