Good evening!!

My temperature needle is going crazy on the dashboard, ranging between stone cold and dead hot all of a sudden, looks like it's time to replace my temperature switch which is yet the original from 1998

I've been digging on ETKA and according to it the part number for my model would be 059919501 but all that I can find are the ones with part number 059919501A. They are both green coloured and so its the one currently installed, are there any catches on this that I'm not seeing? haven't found anything about that around the web...

My car was manufactured on August 1998 so according the ETKA 059919501 should be the right one but kinda impossible to find...

It's not uncommon for part numbers to have multiple 'versions'. In this case the numbers are the same except the newer part has an 'A' on the end. I'd guess it's just an updated version or perhaps a new manufacturer of the same part, or even a 'new and improved' version. I would expect to work fine.

That pretty much sums it up.
Online places like ECS Tuning or FCP Euro will even list the previous versions of the original part number. That way you know it's compatible and you're getting the right thing.
You will need to verify the connector shape before ordering. Yours should have a square connector and the new ones "A" should have a D shaped connector, but just check to be sure.

Permanent way around it? Cut off your connector and splice in the newer style connector in its place. That way, you can get the revised part number all the time.
;-) Hi. Just curious and ran a quick Ebay search. Definitely the "A" is more common and usually a little less expensive. But, in case that rewiring the plug is a hastle (need to purchase a plug too), then the original p/n also shows availability. There are several available from well recognized brands. As always, be careful of vendor and fake parts. Thus, the usual recommendations apply. Take care.
