Any suggestion for free download of software to create your own ringtone? I did a search and there are too many, I just want one that is easy to use & approved by fellow PW.

This is for my wife's smartphone running Window Mobile OS, both of us got a big boy phone ;) . I've downloaded plenty of freebie ringtones, but can't seem to find one that she likes, she wants a specific song from one of her favorite CD.

I'm pretty handy with hacking phone especially smartphone running WM OS, but know nothing about ripping song into wav file for ringtone. Something that can rip a 10-15 seconds of .wav file from a CD.

QFT man

great program. I would just download the song using Limewire and then load it up to audacity. Cut out 15-30 second of the song and you can fade in fade out or whatever and then export it. If you want to export it as an mp3 you need to download this lame_enc.dll which you can get here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3.

Also sometimes you can get lucky and find some good already clipped ringtones on www.mobile9.com.

Hope this helped a bit :/

None

Nothing more anoying then ring tones
I know what you mean, a friend of mine got that "who let the dogs out" ringtone, annoying as shit!!

But less tactful musical instrument only tones are all that I have in my phone. I got a different tone each for: family, friends & biz associates. This way I don't have to check or answer the phone when the wife calls while I'm out playing golf. ;)

Since it's a windows mobile device...

Download Windows media encoder (free).

Once you've ripped your song, use WME to cut out the bit you want and encode it to WMA... drop it on your phone, and WM5 will ask you if you want to install it as a ringer (IF it's WMA... mp3's are no good here)...done.
