Crap! Is the ABS controller part of the ABS pumps assembly?

1370 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  DRMUD
Went out to run to the store a few minutes ago and upon turning the key I get this horrible continuous noise from the ABS pump. Turn off the key and try it again, same thing. A VAG scan shows up "Intermittent ABS controller memory error", and "ABS Valve voltage"??

Sounds like an electronic problem, not mechanical. Could there be a loose connection somewhere? Where's the ABS controller?

I beleive it is connected to the solenoid controll module. There may be separate ecu for the abs also. The electrics in the module are prone to shorting due to heat. Check my link to a part price (around $750) I provided on the link above. Check bentleys manual. Good Luck. Greg
The unit is attached to the pump, however is easily interchangeable....if you have the EXACT part number

8E0 611 111 and a letter at the end... this is very important!

I just exchanged out a P models dead electronics for some salvaged ones. I have a good pump here for a P model and a complete P unit here also.

$200 bucks if you want it...

Mine's a B. But your info has been very helpful. Looking for a used one to swap now.
Check www.car-part.com for your car.

match that number perfectly, call around and verify the letter at the end.

If you have ASR or EDL you will have to code the unit to bleed ... more info below....
