Just picked up a 2000 wagon v6 today. Always wanted a wagon in my collection!

Funny thing is - On way home from buying it already got check engine light. Anyone near Cleveland good with vw's that wants to help a new guy out getting it fixed? There will be some beer and/or money if you wouldnt mind helping!!

Here are some pics of my new baby with my "old" baby! (used my old jersey tags to get it home..)

Nice garage mates there!

For starters, check that the gas cap is tight. That's one of the easiest ways to trip the light. Aside from that, there are a few Cleveland area members who should have a VAG-COM to see what's causing it. As long as it's not flashing, it isn't critical.
It was flashing..I swapped out plugs and wires today and seemed to help..

A vw and a lotus. nice collection =)
Actually got a 2006 pathfinder and 2006 rabbit too, but only 2 can get in the garage!
More CEL info here in the Information Forum.

I had a bad spark plug recently that caused a flashing CEL, but then it went to solid on. After replacing, my misfire went away. The CEL will stay on for another 4 or 5 engine start-ups. If the problem is no longer detected after that, the light will shut off on its own.
As long as I'm getting caught up on the Central USA forum, allow me to add the following:

Shaker, Shaker, you are it.

SH - for Shaker!
IT - for it!
