I just had my 40K service on my 2002 GLX V6 at the dealer a few days ago. Today I check my oil and notice it's a little high. In an attempt to demonstrate this:

Orange Area: xxxxx Orange Area

The level is touching the Bottom of the the upper orange area. Should I be concerned????

Some model years had bends instead of the hatched (XXXXX) area.

From the Bentley Manual:

The oil level must not be above the max. mark - danger of damaging catalyst! Marks Page 17-13 , Fig. 3 .

Fig. 3 Marking on oil dipstick
1 - max. mark
2 - min. mark
a - Area above hatched field up to max. mark: Do not top-off with engine oil!
b - Oil level within hatched field: can be topped-off with engine oil
c - Area from min. mark up to hatched field: fill with max. 0.5 ltr. of engine oil!

It's kinda BS...mine was just a little off of the full mark...and I had about 8oz left of oil...so i said f-it and poured it all in...it then went about 3/4 up the orange stick

I imagine i overfilled by 3-4 ounces...if the engineers aren't idiots that shouldn't hurt it...but you never know
