What is the containter directly below the windshield washer container? I looked in my manual but it dosent say what it is, mine is low and i want to fill it up.

nothing on the cap, that was the first thing i did, second thing was dig up the manual.

what color is the fluid in it? I'm thinking it's the coolant overflow tank.

The windshield washer tank is closer to the headlights.
The brakefluid is nearest the windshield, the tank with the redish fluid at the firewall is the coolant.

Are you refering to the blue plastic container?
If so it's filled with a vacuum, don't worry about it.

its not the coolant overflow tank (coolant expansion tank) says my manual. Its directly above the drivers side headlight, i think the cap is green, but since my cap says nothing on it, it may be a replaced cap. Ill go out and check the color of the fluid in a sec. When i took the cap off earlier it has a a dip stick connected to the cap to show you how full it should be.

The one with the green cap? Directly behind the headlights? I believe that's the power steering fluid. In the pic above, there is an icon which looks like a steering wheel.

Yup...definitely Power Steering. I think the confusion we had trying to answer this was the geographic placement.....'below' as opposed to 'in front of'.

Mineral Hydrolic fluid!
Didnt actually notice the sticker label on the container or look at it long enough because its writen in german, some other language, and then english. So is this powerstearing fluid?

It's the power steering fluid resevoir.

Just topped up today with Oil for Hydraulic and power steering, yes it is.

I need to top mine off as well. Before I go buy some, does it require anything special, or just plain old P/S fluid. I just ask now after my experiences with coolant and VW's in general

You cannot just use any power steering fluid. You must go to the tsealership and get the fluid from VW.

Thanks DougLife. It figures. I just did a search and only found one other post recently about that and they agreed.

It's just a real pain for me b/c the stealership is so far away....oh well.
