MIL came on yesterday. Bentley says B1S1 O2 sensor heater resistance too high.

Could this be anything else other than a sensor gone bad? It is rather expensive (~200USD at vwparts.com)

Car: 2000 Passat 1.8T ATW

Thanks.

How many miles? Front or rear sensor? my front just went at ~52k miles on my 2000 1.8t
It is the front sensor, according to the code. Mileage is just under 60k miles. I thought these things would last longer...

What do I use to grease the threads? Gets pretty hot back there...

Anyone has experience with the Bosch Universal O2 sensors? Looks like it is the same as their "OE" sensor minus the connector. A wire splicing kit is used to recycle the old connector. Found these for ~$65 vs $133 for the OE. Dealership is asking ~$200.
