I recently got a Passat (2000 miles now) and I've noticed that whenever I release clutch from 1st gear or reverse gear, it make clicking noise...

Is it normal? Or should I take the car back to dealer for inspection? Has anyone had any similar experience or any potential cause for the noise? I appreciate any helpful tips...

Could be your throwout bearing, but it should do that whenever you release the clutch.

I've got the same sound happening on my 99 with 65K miles so I'm curious to know what it may be.

It only happens when releasing in either 1st or reverse gear.

I have a new passat as well (3000 miles) and i hear a clicking noise everytime i press the clutch. i figure it was meant to be like that :???: maybe i need to have it checked.

i have an 00 1.8T with 61k and whenever i release the clutch in 1st or reverse i hear almost grinding/clicking noise and was curious of what it was as well
